EnglSupport soll deutschsprachigen Englisch-Lernern und -Anwendern den Weg zu Hilfen im Internet weisen.

Links sind kommentiert um Orientierung zu geben und Suchzeiten zu verkürzen. Linguistische, lexikologische, pädagogische und andere Kriterien sind erst in zweiter Linie relevant.

Weniger ist mehr. Die Linksammlung ist nicht auf Vollständigkeit angelegt; die Zahl der Links soll übersichtlich bleiben.

Die besten Sites in der jeweiligen Kategorie stehen zuerst; die Liste geht jeweils vom nützlichsten oder allgemeinsten zum weniger nützlichen oder spezielleren Link.

EnglSupport ist auf schnelles Laden hin ausgerichtet; der HTML-Code soll so einfach wie möglich bleiben.

Inbuilt translation feature (14 languages, including German) of only limited usefulness (automatic translation). Answers.com offers direct access to a wide range of reference books and content of websites etc. that it has licensed. Easy to use and rich in US-based content.

(October 2006) Very useful when you are looking for rare words or for meanings across different fields (art, computing, education etc). You can use wildcards for your search. A short definition is offered together with links to all relevant dictionaries that have the word you're looking for. Two boxes show expressions with the word and words with similar meaning.

"Ich habe gestern meinem Bruder zum Geburtstag ein Buch geschenkt." Für im Englischen nicht sichere Benutzer ist die automatische Übersetzung in die fremde Sprache nicht wirklich geeignet. Übersetzungen vom Englischen ins Deutsche können aber hilfreich sein. Erfahrungsberichte und neue Links sind zu diesem "heißen" Thema besonders willkommen.

With hundreds of new computer viruses (or "virii") created each month, virus warnings should certainly be taken seriously and you should make sure to have anti-virus (AV) software installed on your system plus update the virus definition files regularly. AV software makers provide those updates on their homepages. Along with that increasing number of viruses there are also various false virus warnings (Hoaxes) being passed around via email. On their website http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/ the U.S. Department of Energy has listed many of those false warnings and they also recommend http://www.vmyths.com/ , a virus myth site which is being updated more often. So if you receive a warning, check these pages before you flood your friends' mailboxes and the internet in vain. For a fast overview of the latest virus threats and removal tools see hoax-info.de. The German computer magazine c't also provides anti-virus and hoax information on their page www.heise.de/ct/antivirus.
